An avid volleyball player (three nights a week in three different community leagues), in April 1997 Andy decided to give up his Wednesday night Portland YWCA volleyball league to join the chorus and sing as a baritone in the MGMC’s 5th anniversary Pride concert at Merrill Auditorium and he’s continued singing in every concert since.
Andy grew up and attended school in Fairfield, Maine, where his Mom and most of the family still lives. After two years at the University of Maine in Orono, he graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. degree in instrumental music and a concentration in natural resources. Andy’s passion for the environment and recognition of the special unique place that Maine is, led him to go to work for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, first in Portland and now in Augusta, where he is a 24 year veteran of the Bureau of Air Quality. Andy still keeps his hand in instrumental music by playing guitar and keyboards in a DEP band that performs at department and other state agency functions, as well as having played at the Blaine House on a couple of occasions. A resident of Auburn for the past 13 years, Andy shares his home with his best friend Adam and their canine and feline companions Emily, Molly, Tibby, Tabby and Joanie.
