Joining MGMC as Artistic Director for the 2015 Pride Concert is Lawrence Jackson.  Larry has a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Univeristy of Massachusetts in Amherst majoring in trumpet and minoring in voice.  He also holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Southern Oregon in Ashland, Oregon. Larry has been teaching instrumental music in the public schools for 29 years working with students from grades 5 through 12 as a conductor of concert bands and jazz bands.  Larry is currently the director of three concert and jazz bands in Falmouth where he has 220 band students. He founded the 6th grade band and choral festival in Maine district I.  He has also been a guest conductor at the district music festivals in Districts I, III and IV. Larry has been a singing performer for many years. He sang with the Portland Choral Art Society for 13 years where he performed with the Masterworks chorus, the Choral Art Singers and the Camerata singers.  Larry has also sung with the Saint Mary Schola, under the direction of Bruce Fithian. He served as one of the Choir directors at Unity church in Windham for several years. Larry most recently was a member of Renaissance Voices, an a cappella small group based in Portland. 


Larry has been together with his husband Steve for 23 years.  They live in Portland.


Larry last directed the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus in 2006 for their Pride Concert, "If I Can Make It There...Great Moments on Broadway".  He is very excited to celebrate Pride with the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus in 2015!!

Sarah Phinney, originally from Millinocket, Maine, began playing the organ at church at the age of twelve. She went on to Bowdoin College and majored in mathematics and economics and earned a minor in music. She accompanied for the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus from 2007 to 2009 and is excited to return for their 2015 season. Sarah has also accompanied for numerous other musical groups and performances in the MidCoast and Southern Maine area. Sarah works in the Office of Alumni Relations at Bowdoin College as an event planner and resides in Gorham with her husband, Scot, and their daughter, Isabel.
