The Touring Ensemble has at present 11 members. We meet on Monday nights for two hours, from 7:00 to 9:00 at Williston West Church at 32 Thomas Street, Portland. Our director,Tom Wallace, has been working us hard since July, when he took on the role of Associate Director of MGMC.  Because of our efforts and his high expectations, we are becoming an ever more cohesive group.

Our repertoire overlaps that of the Chorus, although we are a distinct group, with our own interpretations and additional pieces of music, several of them arranged by Tom with our voices specifically in mind. In August, we had our first stand-alone concert – in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island. By year’s end, we will have performed 7 additional times and at 5 more locations, sometimes with the Chorus, sometimes on our own.

The goal of the present members is to perform perhaps once a month in addition to the traditional winter and Pride concerts. Some appearances may involve the singing of only a few songs, while we will continue to develop our repertoire to enable us to accept opportunities to perform full-length concerts at relatively short notice. This will allow us to represent the Chorus when their full participation is impractical.
